Scottish Inter District Team Championships

100 young players from all over Scotland will travel this week to Kilgraston School in Bridge of Earn, Perthshire to compete in the 40th Scottish Inter District Team Championships, a team competition organised by Tennis Scotland. Competition will be fierce as teams from all nine District Associations in Scotland contest three age group events – 12, 15 and 18 & Under – over four days of play. The event, one of the most popular in Scotland’s tennis calendar, was first played in 1992 and was the brainchild of the national tennis coach at the time, Terry Mabbitt, to provide team competition for young players from all parts of the country. Well over 2000 of Scotland’s best young juniors have since participated at the Kilgraston event with a team representing Central District, which included brothers Andy and Jamie Murray, winning in 1996. With Tennis Scotland increasing its emphasis on team competition and having great fun whilst playing, the Inter District Championships provide both with lots of additional activities planned throughout the week to create a great tennis experience. Play starts on Wednesday morning with the finals scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Draws and a schedule of matches can be found daily at Scottish Inter District Championships. – See more at: Kilgraston fixtures and results
