Beechgrove hatrick of titles

Stuart, Morgan, Kyle, Ewan and Ross.

Beechgrove’s 14s and 16s headed to Dumfries knowing 2 victories would secure all 3 junior team titles and after a couple of tight matches that’s how it played out. In the 16s Morgan was to strong for Innes, who was playing his first match of the season after injury, with Morgan winning 4-0 and 4-0. In the other match Stuart and Harris played out a marathon match with Stuart winning the first set on a tie-break 5-4, Harris levelled the match taking the second set 5-3 before Stuart gained the upper hand by winning the final tie-break set 7-5. The doubles was a comfortable victory for Beechgrove as the recorded a 4-1,4-0. This gave Beechgrove the title with 4 wins out of 4.

In the 14s Beechgrove started well as Kyle Gilmour beat Callum Reynolds-Lewis 4-0, 4-1, the Cathan Little levelled the match with a 4-2, 4-1 victory over Ross McMillin and although Dumfries has a better second set in the Doubles they fell short losing the doubles 4-0, 5-3 as Beechgrove secured the 3rd junior title. Elsewhere Annan completed a good first season back with a 3-0 win over Kirkcudbright to finish 3rd in the league.
