Dumfries Tennis Club held the most recent mini tennis events with a Mini Red event and the first ever LTA Mini Orange event in Dumfries and Galloway. Over the 2 events 19 kids from Moffat, Annan and Dumfries played some excellent tennis on what became a very pleasant day. In the Orange event, which is for kids aged between 8 and 9.5yrs, Fergus Reynolds-Lewis (Dumfries), Rose Brown, Keeley Scott and Daniel Palmer all from Beechgrove Tennis club in Moffat battle it out in a round robin format. After some very good matches it was Fergus who edge a close contest with Rose being the runner-up.
In the red event 16 children took part with several kids taking part in a competition for the first time. After the group stages the final four were Daniel Palmer who continued on from his successful Mini Red tour victory earlier in the year, Daniel McKenna and Evie McKnight who also had a very successful mini red tour and Ben Rogerson. In two very tight semi finals Daniel Palmer beat Daniel McKenna 10-6 with Ben Rogerson recording the same score against Evie McKnight and in an all Moffat final Daniel Palmer continued on to take the final with a 10-4 win over Ben. Alfie Kowal from Annan won the Consolation final 10-7 against Harry Brown from Moffat.
