D&G League updates

It was third time lucky, or not as was the case when Dumfries ladies travelled to top of the table Dalbeattie. With their previous 2 matches postponed due to weather and injury Dumfries ladies were glad to get a match in, however Dalbeattie ladies were not in a charitable mode. Dalbeattie used home advantage to take a tight match 3-1. In the gents league both Dumfries B and C lost home matches 1-3 to Stewartry CSC and Beechgrove respectfully.

Champions lose away

The 2014 ladies champions, Stewartry CSC suffered an away day defeat to Dalbeattie. Both teams started well winning a rubber each before Dalbeattie edged the next 2 rubbers in two tight matches (3-1). In the gents league Dumfries A ease past neighbours Dumfries B 4-0 to keep their 100% record, elsewhere Stewartry CSC entertained Dumfries C in a very close match which Stewartry won 3-1.

This week Dumfries A travel through to Kirkcudbright whilst Stewartry CSC and Beechgrove travel through to Dumfries to play their B and C teams. In the ladies league Dalbeattie entertain Dumfries and Stewartry head to Moffat.

Dumfries march on as rain cancels matches

The rain wiped out most of the fixtures on Wednesday 29th with only the 2 matches at Dumfries going ahead. Courts were damp and a heavy rain shower broke play up for 15 minutes, however Dumfries A secured a victory against their plucky neighbours Dumfries C. The first two matches were tight with the C team having a slight glimmer of hope but the experience and young Alex Shearman proved to strong and eventually took the match 4-0. In the other match an unlucky Kirkcudbright again landed in Dumfries on a damp and cold day to take on Dumfries B. The home team secured a 4-0 victory but Kirkcudbright showed their progress with 2 tight matches against a young and energetic B team.
