Dumfries Tennis Club will be hosting the regions first ever LTA Fast4 Tennis competition during the Xmas holidays.
What is Fast4 Tennis!
Basically it is a shorter and faster format of tennis so players can play more matches on the day. The shortened format offers a “fast” alternative to tennis, with four points, four games and four rules: there are no advantage scores, lets are played, tie-breakers apply at three games all and the first to four games wins the set.
Simple and appropriate for the winter season, quick matches then back into the warmth of the pavilion.
At the recent Nithsdale Sports awards, tennis was recognised with Michael Goldie being awarded Club Volunteer of the year award and his youngest son Fergus Reynolds-Lewis being awards a Commendation Certificate for his achievements in tennis at the tender age of 10.
Years of hard work now putting tennis on the Nithsdale map.
Annan Seaforth Tennis club are running a “Tennis Sweep” event. Players will be paired by picking discs and will play doubles. The winners will either be determined by points or knockout depending on the number of players, with the winning pair splitting the money in the pot.
Players must be 16 or over and names should be put forward to Mary, further details on the linked poster below. Free to enter for Annan members, £2.50 for guests and everyone adds a £1 to the pot.
The first event is scheduled for Thursday 16th November with an 11am start.

Dumfries Tennis Club is running a Mini Red Tennis event on the 3rd December in the Loreburn Hall Dumfries. Open to players born 1st April 2009 onwards, experienced or just starting out, this is perfect for the younger players who are looking to expand on their coaching hours and play some fun competitive tennis.
This is open for entry from 4th November 2017.

Dumfries Mini Tennis December Matchplay
Following on from 2 great years we are delighted to announce that D&G Mini Red Tour is back for a third year and this year we welcome Horizon windows and doors as the tour sponsor.
The Mini Red Tour started in 2016 and has enjoyed 2 great years of success, it is a great opportunity for players 8 and under (born on or after 1 April 2008) to get some competitive experience under their belts without having to travel too far, improve their ratings and hopefully have lots of great fun playing a wonderful sport that we hope they will play for many years to come.
HOW IT WORKS
The tour consists of 3 competitions at Dumfries, Annan and at Moffat.
Each event has the same draw format (round robin groups) followed by knockout matches with group winners and second places going through to the main draw and group losers going into the consolation event (subject to numbers and interest). We are looking to run both girls and boys events at each venue with both having their own leaderboard.
D&G Mini Red Tour Leaderboard
Individual performance at each venue is rewarded with points ranging from 100 for winning the event to 5 for losing in the first round of the consolation. These points are accumulated over the 3 events and the top boy and girl will receive a trophy each. There will also be medals awarded at each event for the top 3 players in each category.
The leaderboards will be updated via email to the club contacts following each event with reports being regularly posted on D&G Tennis website as well as the local papers. The results for each event should be displayed on the website. http://www.dumfriesandgallowaytennis.com
Having said all that, the main priority is enjoyment and improvement and you don’t have to play in every event as you can dip in and out as you wish ALTHOUGH 50 BONUS POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO THOSE DOING ALL 3 EVENTS.

The forthcoming District AGM will be held on Tuesday 14th November 2017 at 7.00pm at the Ice Bowl , Dumfries.
Please see the link below for the Agenda. The committee would appreciate there being at least one representative from each club in attendance at the AGM where possible.
If there are any motions /resolutions /nominations for Committee positions or any other matter these should be intimated to Lister McKiddie 21 days in advance of the AGM.
We would be grateful if those office bearers detailed in the Agenda would prepare their reports for the meeting.

This years mixed champions are Dalbeattie “A” who retained the title for the umpteenth year and in league 2 Kirkcudbright “A” won the title for the 4th time in six years.
Dalbeattie secure their title with 5 wins out of 5 for another excellent year and Kirkcudbright “A” also dominated their league by winning 7 matches and drawing the other.
