Beechgrove’s 14s and 16s headed to Dumfries knowing 2 victories would secure all 3 junior team titles and after a couple of tight matches that’s how it played out. In the 16s Morgan was to strong for Innes, who was playing his first match of the season after injury, with Morgan winning 4-0 and 4-0. In the other match Stuart and Harris played out a marathon match with Stuart winning the first set on a tie-break 5-4, Harris levelled the match taking the second set 5-3 before Stuart gained the upper hand by winning the final tie-break set 7-5. The doubles was a comfortable victory for Beechgrove as the recorded a 4-1,4-0. This gave Beechgrove the title with 4 wins out of 4.
In the 14s Beechgrove started well as Kyle Gilmour beat Callum Reynolds-Lewis 4-0, 4-1, the Cathan Little levelled the match with a 4-2, 4-1 victory over Ross McMillin and although Dumfries has a better second set in the Doubles they fell short losing the doubles 4-0, 5-3 as Beechgrove secured the 3rd junior title. Elsewhere Annan completed a good first season back with a 3-0 win over Kirkcudbright to finish 3rd in the league.
Dumfries A gents secured their 5 title in a row with a week to spare whilst Dalbeattie Ladies win their 5th title in 6 years.
Dumfries A secured the title with a 4-0 victory at home to Beechgrove and Dalbeattie Ladies came back from 2-0 down away to defending champions Stewartry CSC to secure a 2-2 draw which was enough to win the title. Elsewhere Dalbeattie gents beat Kirkcudbright 4-0 and Dumfries ladies had the same score line at home to Beechgrove ladies.

With one week left of the junior leagues it congratulations to Beechgrove tennis club from Moffat who have already secured the 12s and under league with 3 wins out of 3 so far. In the 14s and under league it’s all down to next Sundays match between Dumfries and Beechgrove to see who takes the title, both team sit with 8 points with one result to come from the Beechgrove match against Seaforth from Annan. Seaforth’s final match is at home to Kirkcudbright as they try to complete the double against their Stewartry rivals.
In the 16s and under the final match is Dumfries at home to Beechgrove, with the Moffat club chasing the league hat-trick

With both Stewartry CSC and Dumfries A gents completing a double-header last week, both knew a win was vital on Wednesday before they met at Dumfries on the Thursday. Both started well with Stewartry taking a 2-0 lead at Moffat against Beechgrove with Dumfries A doing likewise against Dumfries B before going on to completing a 4-0 victory, however in Moffat the Beechgrove team caused an upset as they took the 3rd rubber to trial 1-2 before Stewartry had to concede the fourth rubber leaving the match a draw. In the other match of the night Dumfries C beat Kirkcudbright 4-0 at Dumfries.
Stewartry travelled to Dumfries on the Thursday knowing they could lose to keep their title hopes alive. Unfortunately for Stewartry CSC Dumfries A used home advantage to complete their second victory of the week (4-0) to open up a 3 point gap at the top of the league with 2 matches left to play.
Elsewhere, Stewartry Ladies completed the double over Dumfries with a 4-0 victory with their nearest contenders Dalbeattie recording the same score away to Beechgrove. This leaves Dalbeattie and Stewartry on level points with Stewartry entertaining Dalbeattie this week to decide the title.
Dumfries Tennis Club hosted the D&G Junior championships on a warm Saturday afternoon. The first winner of the day was Daniel Palmer from Beechgrove tennis club in Moffat, Daniel completed 3 wins out of 3 in his round robin 8s and under event with Rose Brown coming 2nd. In the 10s and under girls event Catie Palmer emulated her younger brother by winning her round robin event. Catie completed 4 wins out of 5 to take the title. Heather Keal just edged into 2nd place to be the runner-up. In the boys 10s and under, another Beechgrove player Brandon Smith completed 2 wins against Dumfries duo of Fergus Reynolds-Lewis and Callum Trotter with Fergus taking the runners-up spot by edging past Callum in the other match.
In the 12s and under boys event, Jed Simpson for Dumfries tennis club beat Ewan McMillin from Beechgrove to secure the title and in the 14s Oscar Alberigo from Dalbeattie edged past Beechgroves Kyle Gilmour, 2 sets to 1. Kyle secured the 16s and under title by beating Ross McMillin and Callum Reynolds-Lewis.
The final round of fixtures have been completed before the split with Dumfries B winning a tight match 3-1 against Dalbeattie and Beechgrove also recording the same score away to Kirkcudbright, this leaves the top four as Dumfries A, Stewartry CSC, Beechgrove and Dumfries B. All four of these teams will complete the reverse fixtures to decide which team is the 2015 champions. Dumfries C, Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright will contest the last 3 places.

The D&G Junior district championship takes place at Dumfries Tennis Club on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June. This years winners are gifted free entry into the equivalent event at the South of Scotland Championship at Moffat at the end of July.

This weeks results saw Dumfries C gain a point with their match against Dumfries B 2-2, Beechgrove lost 0-4 to Dumfries A and Dalbeattie played a double-header, winning 4-0 against Kirkcudbright and losing 1-3 to Stewartry CSC. In the ladies league Stewartry CSC defeated Beechgrove 4-0.
This week sees Dumfries B entertain Dalbeattie in a match which could decide who plays in the top four after the split and who plays in the bottom 3. elsewhere Beechgrove travel to Kirkcudbright knowing at least a draw guarantees them a top four finish. In the ladies league Stewartry travel to Dumfries and Dalbeattie entertain Beechgrove.
